STANDARD BIO (120-140 words)
Christoph Gey is an art director and designer based in Leipzig, focused on digital brand and product systems. His work sits between strategic brand development and hands-on product design, with a strong emphasis on digital platforms and media-driven environments.

EXTENDED BIO (200-220 words)
Christoph Gey is an art director and designer specializing in digital brand and product systems. He works at the intersection of branding, UX/UI, and strategic design, helping organizations create coherent and scalable digital experiences.
His practice focuses on how brand identity, user experience, and product logic must align in order to remain credible and effective within digital platforms. Rather than prioritizing visual effects, his work emphasizes structural clarity, functional depth, and long-term usability.
Christoph Gey has contributed to projects for international brands such as Audi and Volvo and regularly works in the sports and media sector, including projects for DFL Digital Sports and Dyn. His approach is driven by the conviction that strong brands are built when design is understood as part of the product itself — not as an isolated visual layer.
Alongside his practical work, he explores the role of design as a connecting force between strategy, technology, and user experience.

Design Philosophy
“For me, design is never just function or form — it is the inseparable symbiosis of both that makes it tangible, useful, and meaningful.”
— Christoph Gey, Snr. Art Director & UI/UX Designer
Design & Meaning
“A lot of contemporary design looks polished, but says nothing. When aesthetics aren’t grounded in a clear idea or message, they become interchangeable — and that’s where meaning gets lost.”
— Christoph Gey, Snr. Art Director & UI/UX Designer
Design Systems
“Good design isn’t about how modern and fancy a system looks, but about how well it holds together under pressure — across platforms, features, and real user behavior.”
— Christoph Gey, Snr. Art Director & UI/UX Designer
Attitude & Responsibility
“I see design as a form of service. If my work doesn’t make something clearer, more usable, or more meaningful for people, it hasn’t done its job.“
— Christoph Gey, Snr. Art Director & UI/UX Designer
Role of the Designer
“Design isn’t about expressing myself and surving my ego. It’s about using my skills to help people navigate complexity and make things work better for them.”
— Christoph Gey, Snr. Art Director & UI/UX Designer
Approach & Craft
“Design requires different tools at different moments. Sometimes you need the precision of a scalpel, sometimes the force of a hammer — knowing when to use which is part of the craft.”
— Christoph Gey, Snr. Art Director & UI/UX Designer
How would you describe your approach to design?
“I see design as the point where form and function become inseparable. For me, good design is not about choosing between aesthetics and usability, but about making both work together in a way that feels coherent, tangible, and meaningful. If one dominates the other, the result usually feels superficial or fragile.”
What do you think is missing in much of today’s digital design?
“A lot of contemporary design looks refined on the surface, but lacks intention underneath. When visual decisions are not grounded in a clear idea or message, they become interchangeable. That’s often where meaning gets lost — and where design stops communicating anything beyond style.”
What role does responsibility play in your work as a designer?
“I see design as a form of service. My work is not about expressing myself or feeding my ego, but about helping people navigate complexity and use products more confidently. If a design doesn’t make something clearer, more usable, or more understandable, it hasn’t fulfilled its responsibility.”
How do you approach problem-solving in design projects?
“Not every problem requires the same level of subtlety. Sometimes design calls for precision and restraint, sometimes for decisiveness and clarity. Knowing when to use a scalpel and when to use a hammer is part of the craft — and comes from experience, not from following trends.”
