BORN IN 1987. RAISED IN A SMALL VILLAGE IN GERMANY. DESIGNING FOR BIG BRANDS SINCE 2010
Hi, I’m Christoph Gey a freelance Art Director, Illustrator & Visual Wanderer from Germany. I work remote or in-house for agencies and clients in the fields of automotive, lifestyle products, beverages, food, insurance and whatever needed and sounds interesting to me.
I love to help people and brands with good design – starting with concepts, continuing with design and finishing with the delivery of assets. I’m used to work solo as well as part (or lead) of a huge team. I like to deal with open, honest and warm people who love what they do and are willing to learn and to teach.
I enjoy a good cup of coffee, traveling the world with a small backpack, dancing tango, driving motorcycle, playing drums, taking photos, experimenting with design or sketching in nature.

CORPORATE DESIGN
I’m focused on the development of corporate designs as part of the corporate identity. This includes finding a unique visual style, creating artificial intelligence personalities, logo development, image/color conception, UI branding, employer branding, pattern libraries, design manuals and much more.

UI, UX, AI DESIGN
I create design systems, artificial intelligence systems, user interfaces, pattern libraries, GUI Kits and different digital touch points such as websites, microsites, landing pages, apps, wearables, platforms, in-car screens, … I also develop visual visions, wireframes, concepts and so on.

ILLUSTRATION
I draw business illustrations, corporate illustrations, characters, infographics, iconography, editorials, advertising … They can be done as digital vector illustrations or with haptic materials such as pencil, paper, water/acrylic color, feathers, chocolate, fabrics, wood …

ATTITUDE
I think the most important thing as a designer is not the sensitivity when it comes to proportions, colors and moods. It’s also not about operating Photoshop, Sketch and what so ever like a mad man. These are skills necessary for doing a good job – not for doing an excellent one.
It all comes to a humbled heart. You must trap your ego and all the dreams of prestige and money, that fucking ruins it all. You have to become quite, focused and curious. Listen to the people your working for. Learn from them, serve them and than have fun, keep it real and fucking do the job like there is no tomorrow.

PHILOSOPHY
I consider myself a „visual wanderer“. I love to travel (in mind and body) and to learn about different cultures, lifestyles and visuell languages. Every land, agency and client has it’s own history and visual characteristics. On the one hand, I love to discover and understand them. On the other hand I respect them and like to work with and to develop them further.
On my pathway I’m blessed with meeting many inspiring friends, which teach me in knowledge and wisdom. So I’m getting better from project to project. I haven’t reached the point where I want to be, yet. But I will.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
When I get booked I see it as my responsibility to pass on the financial blessing. The income gives me the chance to support 3 godchildren in Africa on a constant basis and aid agencies such as “TARGET e.V.“, “Doctors without borders“, “Engineers without borders“, “Compassion“, “Plan“, “SOS Kinderdorf“, “Weihnachten im Schuhkarton” and “Brot für die Welt“.
