Hi, I‘m Christoph Gey a Freelance Art Director from Cologne, Germany.
Since 2015 I‘m working as a fulltime freelance art director, won several awards and met incredible gifted people. What a blessing! I’ve worked with so many interesting clients. Starting from individual persons and start ups up to family business and global player. Some of them do things, I didn’t even know exist. With a humble heart and sensitivity I try to reveal their spirit and visualize it in a creative and aesthetic way, so they meet their business goals and calling. Sometimes it‘s like trying to catch the wind but it’s so much fun!
During the last years I‘ve specialized in corporate design, webdesign and illustration. I‘m working as a Freelance Art Director, User Interface Designer, User Experience Designer, Creative Director and Illustrator. Every day I sit in front of my computer with a big smile on my face, thankful about the possibility to create awesome shit for people I like, love and respect.
As freelance art director I use specific software like Sketch, Adobe XD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Procreate, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere and many more.
I have had number of clients as a freelance art director from Cologne. Such as Audi, DFL, Bundesliga, Volvo, Toyota, BMW, Drive Now, Nintendo, Nivea, Samsung, AXA, HDI, StepStone, DHL, Aktion Mensch, Wacom, GEDANKENtanken and many more.
Hi, I‘m Christoph Gey a Freelance Senior Art Director and UI/UX Designer from Leipzig.
Born in the former GDR, in a country that no longer exists, I learned early on that systems, securities, and certainties are transient. Perhaps this awareness shaped my focus on what is essential and lasting.
Extended journeys through Australia, Thailand, the United States, and other parts of the world further refined this perspective. Learning a language is learning a culture. Understanding cultures teaches that nothing is better or worse — everything is simply different. Observing these differences, respecting them, and integrating them into my work continues to define how I approach design. I live and work in Leipzig. I am a father of three daughters and one of three siblings. Family is a source of responsibility and perspective.
Children challenge what seems to work, experiment, and abstract — showing honestly what succeeds and what doesn’t. Seeing the world through their eyes shifts focus, reveals blind spots, and inspires curiosity. At the same time, it reminds me of the responsibility I carry for their well-being and education.
Why I design cannot be reduced to a single answer.
I enjoy making things more beautiful and functional. I enjoy immersing myself in the worlds of my clients, understanding their microcosms, and accompanying them along their journey — until they can stand confidently on their own. My role is to provide clarity, guidance, and structure, and then step back when the work can sustain itself.
As a freelancer, I work with commitment, precision, and high standards. Not from ego, but from responsibility. I am proud of what I can achieve, yet deeply grateful for the circumstances that brought me here. Design is less a profession for me than a way of life — a practice of attentiveness, reflection, and care. My work is shaped by responsibility, gratitude, and humility — values deeply rooted in my Christian faith.
